Roddrick Smith is the founder and head coach of Space City Warriors Inc., a Houston-based youth basketball and development organization dedicated to empowering young athletes through education, discipline, and sport. Coach Rod is also a huge advocate for lieracy and education. With over a decade of experience in education, Roddrick has specialized in special education, physical fitness, and youth development, bringing both passion and purpose with him everywhere.
A native of Houston, Texas, Roddrick is a proud graduate of Smiley High School, where he earned All-District honors three times and was named All-Greater Houston twice under the guidance of coach James Norman. During his high school career, he also played alongside former HBU All-American Rod Nealy.
Roddrick went on to play collegiate basketball at Long Island University in Brooklyn, a Division I program. Although an injury sidelined him before the start of his season at LIU, he remained committed to his development, having previously played at McLennan Junior College for coach Byron Smith and Southern University-Shreveport under coach David Francis.
Standing at 6'4", and185 lbs, Roddrick brought versatility and leadership to the point-guard position throughout his playing career. Today, he channels that same drive into mentoring the next generation of athletes and students through his work with Space City Warriors Inc. He believes that hard work, dedication, and consitency is the starting point for any success. He aims to create opportunitues for youth on and off the court.
